About the event

Join us for guided stroll through the Lincoln Square neighborhood. We'll top it off with an optional free concert of Brazilian roots music on the Hudson River (7pm - 9pm), and with any luck a nice sunset! This guided walking tour ends around 6:15pm. Arriving before the music starts increases the chances of getting seats at Pier 1 in Riverside Park (around 70th Street. Staying to eat, drink and for the music is purely optional.

Lincoln Square: Spanning from 60th Street to 70th Streets, this sprawling hard-to pin down neighborhood between Central Park and the Hudson River has quite an array of environments and unique buildings from elegant pre-war buildings to what is essentially a new neighborhood on Riverside Boulevard. We'll also learn about the San Juan Hill neighborhood that pre-dated Lincoln Center and enjoy stops at the "Ghostbuster's Building," the eclectic West Side YMCA building, Sesame Streets' Home, and a really cool street that was an artist's colony long before it happened in SOHO.

Meeting place is the sitting areas within Columbus Circle by the statue. Restrooms available at the Time Warner Center (upstairs). Please take care of business before the walk - there are restrooms at the end of the tour.

Food and beverages available at the Cafe in Riverside Park: Check out menus here: http://piericafe.com/

The music starts at 7:00pm and goes until 9:00pm (free outdoor performance). This evening features roots music from northeast Brazil.
